This post is the first in a four-part series in which we would like to introduce you to the natural ingredients that are the soul of Herbal Bar products.

In this part, we present the four iconic scents of the Trust product family: ylang-ylang, Damask rose, frankincense, and myrrh. These are not just fragrant raw materials, but botanical treasures with deep meanings that have been used for centuries.

Ylang-ylang – the flower of sensuality

Ylang-ylang (Cananga odorata) is an evergreen tropical tree found in Southeast Asia. The essential oil extracted from its bright yellow flowers has a sweet, lush, exotic scent that is instantly captivating.

Thanks to its natural ingredients, ylang-ylang essential oil has a calming and refreshing effect.

It is often referred to as an aphrodisiac.

Damask rose – the queen of flowers

The Damask rose (Rosa x damascena) is a hybrid rose. It probably originates from the Middle East, where it has been cultivated since ancient times. It is a strongly scented rose variety with full flowers.

Damask rose extract regenerates and moisturizes the skin, has an anti-wrinkle and skin-tightening effect. It can be used on all skin types.

Frankincense – the scent of inner peace

Frankincense is the resin of the Boswellia tree, which has been used for thousands of years in spiritual ceremonies, meditation, and for healing purposes. It is found in Africa and the Middle East. The resin is collected after it has begun to harden, so the finished product resembles small stones.

It acts as a fixative, carrying and enhancing other fragrances and helping to prolong the effect of perfumes. In skin care products, it is mainly used for its pore-tightening, antibacterial, soothing and smoothing effects.

Frankincense was burned during religious ceremonies in ancient civilizations and was one of the first substances used as perfume. In the age of the pharaohs, it was used in embalming and mummification due to its preservative properties.

Myrrh – timeless protection

The syrup produced from the Somali balsam tree (Commiphora myrrha) is called myrrh. It has a warm, balsamic and slightly spicy scent. In ancient times, it was used to embalm the dead. Due to its wound-healing properties, it can also be used to treat eczema, stretch marks and chapped skin.

As an essential oil, its components contain anti-inflammatory and analgesic substances.

All of the above-mentioned substances can also be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

In the next part of the series, we will introduce more ingredients, with even more interesting facts and behind-the-scenes secrets.
